Course Description

Every QuickBooks user knows and accepts the product’s reporting limitations, and most users of both the desktop and online editions are forced to export data to Excel to create custom reports to manage their business.  By using Microsoft’s Power Query tool, users can create automated routines to extract, refine, organize, and summarize data extracted from QuickBooks.  Queries can perform simple tasks such as parsing a trial balance, or they can solve more difficult challenges such as combining data from monthly reports into a single database or creating combined/consolidated financial statements.  Attend this course and learn how you can use tools you already own to create better reports with data from from QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online.

    • Explain how data can be exported from QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online, and identify key source reports that might be used to export data from Excel into Power Query
    • Select correct definitions/explanations for key terms associated with Power Query such as DAX, ODBC, Power Pivot, Pivot Tables, and the M programming language
    • Identify an example of when one might want to use the “Open from Folder” tool in Power Query
